Jessica Harris joined the United States Army National Guard and went on to serve as a combat medic (68W) before retiring in 2014 after 20 years in the service. She served overseas during Operation Iraqi Freedom as one of the first women to be in combat during the start of the global war on terror. After retirement she moved to North Carolina and was offered a job at UNC as the Director of cardiovascular surgery.

Shortly after her retirement Jessica also volunteered with a veteran organization called Team Rubicon to help other veterans before leaving North Carolina and starting up her own company, K9 Salute in 2016. Having a strong interest in K9’s and wanting to follow her passion, she moved to Washington state where she has been running her business and has won two great business awards in 2018. In April, K9 Salute was named an American Small Business Champion by SCORE and Sam’s Club. Shortly after in August, she won the Bob Evans Farms Heroes to CEOs contest that partners with Daymond John from ABC’s Shark Tank which also allowed her business to receive a business grant.

Jessica has been activley building her business and helping K9’s that serve in all capacities including military, law enforcement, fire, search and rescue, and the service dogs that assist people in their day to day life.
